About the event

"Sleep, Airway, & the Dental Hygiene Impact" - Terri Patrick, RDH, MS

Course Objectives:

- Review the high prevalence of Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB)

- Associate increase risk of comorbidities

- Discuss orofacial developmental factors that contribute to a smaller airway

- Integrate screenings and assessments into the DH Process of Care

- Explore gold standards for treatment of SBD

“ABC’s of Cardiovascular Disease:  Arrhythmias, Blockages, Cardiomyopathies, Treatment, and What’s Important” - Michael Hale, PA-C

Course Objectives:

- Be able to describe the clinical variances and significance between atrial and ventricular arrhythmias

- Be able to identify significant clinical findings in a patient which may warrant deferral of scheduled dental care, and which may also warrant urgent/emergent medical attention

- Be able to describe the pathological process of coronary artery disease and variable treatment options

- Be able to describe the pathologic processes, both primary and secondary, of myocardial disease and the multitude of treatment options for each cause.

- Be able to properly assess a patient clinical questionaire and interpret responses appropriately

- Be able to respond appropriately to a cardiovascular emergency
